GAMES PATCH PROGRAM 1. Origination: What country did the International Games originate and why were they created? For extra learn more about this country. 2. First Activities: When did the first International Games begin? How many different activities were there (when it first originated)? For extra, try out this sport. 3. Awards: When the International Games was first originated what did they give out to the winner? What do they give out today? For extra find out who received the first gold medal or create a craft representing a reward. 4. Symbols: The International Games have several different symbols that represent this event. Choose one symbol and learn what it represents. Examples include: torch, crown of olive leaves, flags, and mascots. 5. Sports: Learn about two sports represented in the International Games. Examples of ways you can find out more about the sport is by watching it on TV, reading a book, or look it up on the internet. Is it a winter or summer sport? Do you have a favorite or one you would like to try? 6. Act it out: Play charades and act out a sport or word affiliated with the international games. Examples: Location of event, awards, sports, mascots, etc. 7. Famous People: Find one person that is famous from the International Games or has won a medal. What activity did they win the medal for? Where are they from? How long have they been competing? 8. Uniform: Have you ever noticed that each country has a different uniform when they are competing? Learn more about a uniform from a country. What does it look like? What colors are used? Does it resemble their flag? Design your own uniform if you were in the International Games. 9. Food: Have a get together or potluck of food from countries that have participated in the International Games. For assistance you can use our country manuals for ideas of recipes. 10. International: Learn something about one of the countries that have or will participate in the International Games such as their language or flag. 11. Crafty: Create a craft or activity sheet representing the International Games. 12. Event: Hold your own event or activity representing the International Games. 13. Teamwork: Play a game that represents team work. Talk about what would happen if you didn't use teamwork. 14. Watch: Watch the International Games on TV, internet, or view pictures of ceremonies or competitions. 15. You are my hero: Choose one competitor that represents a sport you enjoy or would like to participate in. What is their sport? How long have they been in the competition? Have they won any medals? For extra, look for pictures of them on the internet.
